<image:caption>The true test of navigation and outdoorsman-ship of these two locations allows me to guide you to some of the best kept secrets and fish in the world. Snook are caught year round, with exceptional action staying consistent even through winter months. The arrival of spring brings out the king of all fish, the tarpon show up in staggering numbers, and the opportunities to pull on these giants happens here earlier and more consistent than almost any other location I utilize. The Rod and Gun Club and Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee are only about 5 minutes drive apart, launch location will be based on conditions and daily plans.</image:caption>

Nestled right between Everglades city and Homestead this expanse of land known as the Everglades is home to some of the most legendary sport fishing, and adventure opportunities imaginable. Snook, redfish, and tarpon seemingly lurk around every corner and shoreline you stumble across. <image:caption>My vessel is an eighteen foot, completely custom flats boat, and can accommodate up to three anglers. I’ve spent the past fourteen years with it, personally hand crafting, and upgrading it yearly into the perfect machine for this part of Florida. Among its stellar qualities it possesses, it is uniquely blended to fish shallow, and get into the more remote areas often sought after by backwater enthusiast, mended with incredible stability, and a comfortable dry ride for passengers. The Allseas is the most versatile fishing platform I’ve yet to encounter.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Captain Matthew - About the Captain…</image:title>
<image:caption>It all began with an eight-foot-deep hole in the ground… “I consider myself to be one of the few jackpot winners, as not only are Naples and Southwest Florida some of the most beautiful areas in the United States, but this area is also host to some of the most diverse, and unique ecosystems in the entire world of angling.” The eight-foot-deep hole in the ground is about forty feet wide by eighty feet long and it was dug in my backyard with a backhoe to provide more fill for my childhood home’s foundation. The hole quickly filled with water from Florida summer rains, and with the help of natural well water it stayed topped off in the dry of winter. A strong tropical storm brought walking catfish and other small aquatic species overflowing ditches into the lake that summer following, proving it was a healthy pond. A few months of pond hopping around collier county with a cooler and bubbler brought an array of largemouth bass, bluegill, and bream to complete the ensemble. The fish in the pond became quite literally my own pet fish to hone skills with, observing fish behavior. The addiction became more severe as time passed. My first trip to Key West at eight years old proved irresistible, saltwater was at the top of the the totem pole from here on out, and I was determined to find a way to make it a lasting part of my life. On my eighteenth birthday I obtained my professional captains license and began guiding trips part-time, by nineteen I earned my 100 Ton Master license and literally the ocean became my office traveling to the Bahamas and other tropical waters in the region with a recently obtained 200 Ton Master license. My favorite places to fish and guide still continue to be my backyard which is now the wild backcountry, and near coastal waters of southwest Florida, ultimately leading to my founding of Old Florida Angling.</image:caption>

Polarized sunglasses, hat, sunblock, bug spray, and appropriate comfortable clothing for the forecasted weather are highly advised for an enjoyable experience. It is my pleasure to supply my anglers with top of the line tackle and equipment. Made by yours truly, Old Florida Angling Rods, and spinning reels, from my great friends at Florida Fishing Products, are the majority of the equipment we will utilize, but if you have your own lucky set up, it is more than welcome!</image:caption>
